Navajo Rugs



The Navajo rugs are weaved by the Navajo Indians. This small group of native Americans is very experienced in rugs weaving. Usually the Navajo rugs were intended for ritual purposes. But also the Navajo rugs were used to decorate homes of the Indians. Nowadays there is a high variety of the Navajo rugs styles since the Indians have been restricted within geographic boundary lines, called reservations.

And every style belongs to a certain region. Ganado, Chinle, Wide Ruins, Two Gray Hills, Teec Nos Pos, Crystal, Burntwater - these are examples of regional styles, characterized by their own distinctive colors and designs.
